NZ Poetry | Secondhand | Rare or Scarce | Private Presses
Secondhand. First edition. The Wind and the Sand: Poems 1934–44 is NZ writer Denis Glover's first volume of mature verse. It contains some war poems, also with some early ‘Sings Harry’ poems. Published complete in 1951, the ‘Sings Harry’ sequence discovered a new tone of nostalgia and introspection, albeit mediated by a strongly masculine persona.
1st Edition
Quarter-bound in black cloth with printed boards. Spine and spine-lettering is faded and worn. Ex libris card to FEP. Foxing throughout.
